Total Intravenous Anaesthesia in a Patient with Eisenmenger Syndrome: Case Report
نویسنده
چکیده
Eisenmengers syndrome is defined as the process in which a left-to-right shunt caused by a congenital heart defect causes increased flow through the pulmonary vasculature, causing pulmonary hypertension which causes increased pressures in the right side of the heart and reversal of the shunt into a right-to-left shunt. It can occur with complex congenital cardiac malformations, septal defects, and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Patients with Eisenmengers syndrome are at high risk for peripartum morbidity and mortality. We report the administration of intravenous ketamine with use of upper extremity pulse oximetry in a patient with Eisenmengers syndrome secondary to a VSD undergoing endometrial curettage. 2012 Trade Science Inc.
